This is a Green Bottle Blue tarantula, Chromatopelma cyanopubescens, a new world spider from Venezuela. She's about half grown, and is the fastest freakin' spider I've ever seen. She decided to take off up the drapes during the photo session and it was not fun catching her. It's very unpleasant telling Rose there's a venomous arachnid loose. The sacrificial cricket in one of the shots will give an idea as to her size.

Nice closeups of that arachnid you got Doc. She's a very nice specimen, though spiders aren't my thing.

very awesome... I love tarantulas.. If I could quit buying snakes I'd love to get a beautiful ornamental Tarantula or something as colorful as the one you have there.

I've seen big female GBBs advertised for $200 and more, but you can get little bitty ones for $10-15 and grow your own. I think that the Indian Ornamentals are more, though.
