Actually, I just counted. For the month of March, we pulled 23 clutches of eggs, totaling 113 eggs (Leopard Geckos, Fat Tail Geckos, Crested Geckos, Gargoyle Geckos, Velvet Geckos, Bearded Dragons, and Ackies)Yes, I know. The ackie eggs were on Apr. 1st.

And March is kind of the beginning of the season

(Add February's eggs, and we're at 153)

Let me tell you. We're leaving for New Mexico this morning. Last night, we were up late packing, getting last minute details ready (like, getting baby stuff ready). We decided to check on the female ackie at pretty much that last minute before heading to bed. If we hadn't found the eggs last night, we probably would NOT have found them this morning. And then we probably would have found them on Sunday, which would have sucked. A lot!

So yeah, we're pretty friggin happy!!!

Once they're hatched, healthy little hogs, do you have owners already lined up for them? If not, let me know! I may just have to get ahold of you! These are yellow ackies, right? Oh yeah, how much are you gonna ask for em? 8)

Woohoo! Congrats!

Ackies are pretty dang cool!

I think Mark and Aimee have Red Ackies, I could be mistaken though. Since they are out of town for the weekend maybe Scott and Liz could clarify?

I'd probably prefer Red Ackies over yellows, but either would make me happy!

According to his site, there are 8 Yellow Ackie eggs incubating... http://users.adelphia.net/~bergerm/incubating.htm

Hmmm? Either way, I need to see if I could even afford it and if I could make the space! (Can't forget about the upcoming Woma Time!)

I wouldn't call you an April's fool, more like a lucky bastard. Congrats on yet another clutch of babies. Yeah, I'm curious also on what your pricings will be for the ackies and the gargoyles.

I got all this to Brent in a PM, but figured I'd better get the info out here as well.

We'll be holding back a few pairs for ourselves (I'm becoming rather partial to pairs of ackies, rather than trios). But we need to be certan to keep our bloodline diverse, so we'll also need to sell a few to get fresh stock in. We have not "presold" any, as that would be risky to do with eggs. We'll accept deposits after they hatch, and prices will be determined by the current market.

These are indeed yellow ackies...

How old are your Ackies? Have you had them the whole time? Also, how many do you have? A pair, trio?

I've got tons of other questions, but don't want to bombard you! Also, how old were they when they first bred for you?

Man, I'm excited for you guys and these eggs!

How old are your Ackies?

Our female is 3 yrs+, our male is about 2 yrs old.

Have you had them the whole time?

Our female was 1 yr old when we purchased her. The male was also about 1 yr old when we purchased him.

Also, how many do you have? A pair, trio?

We had 2.2, but our western giant male killed the smaller female, so we rehomed the smaller male with a friend 8) .

I'm pretty firm in my beliefs that pairs are better than trios. Female ackies seem to have some pretty serious dominance issues, and always pick on the smaller females. Males can be very aggressive towards females if they want to... As we found out. When you start messing with trios, you have all kinds of new problems to work out.

Also, how old were they when they first bred for you?

Our female first produced at about 2 yrs of age (last year - she would have produced at a younger age, but we didn't have a male yet). She laid two clutches of 7 and 8 eggs. All eggs were fertile, but they dried out on me in a new incubator, so I lost all of them. That will NOT happen this year!!

Our male is a high contrast western giant from Pete Weiss. Excellent line of ackies... Our female is from unknown lineage, as we purchased her from a private individual who kept her as a pet. I never did find out who he got her from.

How were you sure that she was a female?

How were you sure that she was a female?

She laid eggs  .

Actually, we weren't sure. We acquired a proven breeder male (on loan), and put him in with her. Based on their behaviours (and the eggs she laid), we felt it was safe to assume she was a female.

As I have gained more experience with ackies, I have gotten a little better at visually identifying males and females...
