Well, Liz and I found this girl in a pet store in Denver. She was in a SMALL cage, on the floor with NO heat. She has a mild RI, from being in a cold cage on the floor, but nothing some intense heat shouldn't fix.

Obviously from being in a small cage, she has rubbed herself stupid on her mouth and head.

Pretty much a badly neglected boa, so we whipped out the visa card, paid $85 and took her home.

I've had her now for 2 days and she is already a little bit healthier then when we saw her in the pet store. It's amazing what a bit of high heat can do!

She is extremely gentle, even with me trying to get an eye cap off her and picking bits of stuck on shed from her and then dumping her in the bath tub and well.... basically being pested (For her own good of course), but they don't always see it that way. She never even hissed!

What the pics don't show is the amazing amount of intense red color she has. She has excellant body weight and is without doubt a real stunner. If you look at the face shot you can see the red on her face and side of her head!

But the red runs along her side and her under belly is a nice salmon color. Maybe when she is better, I will get some out door shots to show the red.

For the moment she seems content to be in a warm home. Mark took these pics today!

Yeah, ain't that the truth!

And to think this animal didn't come from a broad ranging pet store offering reptiles, mammals, birds and supplies, but a REPTILE store!

They don't heat their cages when they close the store, the animals survive on room temp only.... talk about putting money before the animals!

WOW...I would never have guessed this was a reptile specialty shop...

That is terrible...

They must sell ALL their animals to people like you who consider it a paid rescue...

 THat's freakin' ridiculous. At least Petsmart and the like have 24 hour heat.

Unfortunately, the sight of sick or emaciated animals is common in these few stores. They take in a lot of reptiles that are not wanted anymore, so they have no money invested in those particular animals.... and they get a few... it's a large city!

High end stuff is usually well cared for, but hell, they paid for those!
