away from some internet friends...been going though job stress, depression, no money, you know usual stuff of a hard working everyday kind of person. My husband and snakes have been my comfort. In that order (sometimes) :lol:
Did you ever have a favorite snake...nothing lavish or expensive, or even on peoples wish list? Just a very dear lovable animal. I have one. Her name is Pepper..She is a VERY dark nelsoni female. She is blind. We cannot detrmine how...her vision just started to deteriorate and now she cannot see at all.
She is such a darling, when I feed her, I pick her up and hold the mouse right in front of her nose and she NEVER strikes. She gently opens her mouth and places it over the head of the mouse ( so lightly I am afraid sometimes she'll drop it)..then I set her down in her cage and ..she eats with no problem.
I never rearrange her house and she knows her way around the 20 long very well. She is about 8 yrs old now...I will get some pics of her. Just wanted to share.

I don't really have a favorite...can't just pick one out b/c I love them each for different reasons...personable, curious, happy, beauty, held back, sweet, friendly, sweet frantic fear, laidback, meek, cool, rambuncious, funny, exactly what I wanted, and quiet persistance...
those are each of my main animals in a word...I don't name baby cresteds until I'm sure I'm keeping them...so I don't fully consider them mine until then so they don't have description words lol

Mine would be our childrens python...sal. He was the one that started our serious reptile addiction. Anyways hes our baby. He used to only while he was wrapped around my finger when he was a baby.

Mine would be Harley my Hogg Island anyday. Not only is he my first snake he is the one that got me over my fear completely and He hates to be put down. He'll crawl around on me for hours if I let him. Bitten me once but that was all my fault so I cant hold that against him. Hes just my bud. That and he actually likes me better than the wife! HAHA LOL :lol:

Gertrude (Gertie)...named after one of my great aunts..

She is a cali king...nothing special...but she is by far my favorite in my collection...she has the top honor of being the only snake to have their tank in my living room.

She is by far the most personable...and calmest. She gets a ton of handling...and deals well with our kids...even our two year old handles her on a regular basis...and she just deals with it...although I do think she may actually enjoy being out of her tank...she will come out and cruise around when she hears me come home...kind of waiting to see if I will take her out and hold her...or so it would seem through my anthropomorphism. :roll:

Bob is definitely my most important snake. He hangs on me when I'm lonely, he is attractive, polite, a clean eater, only goes to the bathroom once a month, and he lulls me to sleep when I am grumpy and in need of rest. He never asks me for anything I can't give, and he nevers threatens to do me any harm. I do have to make sure his food is perfect, and that his water is fresh and his cage set up correctly, but he deserves that and more. He is my best animal friend, seconded only by Misty (who steals the covers, chews up garbage, and begs for people food, but is always there wanting to be with me even when no one else does).

Its to hard for me to pick from my two favs so im picking them both.

PRINCESS.......is my girl. She loves to be held and hang out around my neck. She never gets lipy unless its towards the hubby. She almost always meets me at her door when i walk in the room. And always meets me there when i have food.

JC.......He is the other love of my life. He relaxes me when the day just plain sucked. He listens to when i complain. And if he had his way i would hold him like a baby all the time.

I love all of my animals, snakes lizards, cats ect..... but someone would have to pry Princess and Jc out of my dead cold hands before i give them up.

See I keep telling people that snakes are kind and gentle animals that often do grow to be comfortable with us as pals...no one believes me. You guys know better :wink:
