Here is a picture of one of the Komodo dragons at the Memphis Zoo.

This is REALLY a yawn, but looks pretty cool.

Hey, I tried the link and it's coming back empty/ nonexistant.
Is the URL just missing something?

Nevermind, it was just my browser....sorry.

Even though it's a yawn, I sure wouldn't find any of my extremities in that mouth! Nice pics.

At first I thought it was one of Jim Henson's muppets!

LOL...nice shot!

How long ago was the picture taking :?:
Every summer my kids and I try make as many trips to different zoos as possible.
We have not been to that zoo yet. Is it any good :?:
Do you think it would be worth the trip from Northern Ohio :?:
What is the Reptile House like :?:

I think I took that picture in January of this year. It might have been earlier this month though.

The Memphis Zoo is pretty cool with one notable exception:

Right now we have no bears :( They are working on a new, modern exhibit for the bears, but it is probably almost a year away.

The Herpetarium is pretty good. The curator of reptiles is a fellow named Steve Reichling. He has done some great research projects on many types of herps (mostly endangered) over the years. The Memphis Zoo is a member of the SSP (Species Survival Program) and has some pretty rare animals (herps too) on display as part of this endeavor. The Herpetarium is a bit small and not quite as cool as the one in Atlanta. We do have Louisiana pines (very rare), Chinese Alligators (mississippiensis too), and one of the endangered species of iguana that is eluding me right now to name a few.

I am a big zoo goer too when I travel. :D

I have more pics of our 3 komodos if you guys are interested.....

The little fellow definitely has personality!

My daughter is sweet when she wants something and when the camera is out. She is well beyond training and is in full "practice". (Not that I don't love her though :D )
