Today I found a NEW pet store that like 15 minutes from my house that sells crickets!! YAY!!! Now i dont have to drive an hour to get crickets!!!! Anyway, while I was in there the guy said "let me show you the crickets". So I agreed and followed him to the back room. And there, in a glass aqurium is one of the most beautiful snakes I have ever seen! I red tailed boa! He was light in color. The guy said he had just eat two mice. I kept staring at him through the glass. Then the fella asks "want to hold him?". HAHAHA LIKE I WAS GOING TO SAY NO! Its the first time I have ever really held a snake and trust me this wont be the last after holding that gorgeous snake today!!!!!

You're going to end up getting rid of all your geckos just so you have more space for snakes! :P
The snakes will get you in the end.
I bought two more 20 gallon tanks today and am buying a 40 gal tomorrow.
And I haven't even told my wife yet
Oh well, I NEED more snakes...I wonder if they dip these things in heroine or something before you get the first one to keep you coming back?

What do you guys do with all these snakes and geckos? I can see having a snake in each room to highlight room in some way but 45 snakes? I guess if your a breeder it makes sense, at 45 I hope your a breeder.
Crested I know what you mean though it was only 7 weeks ago I held my first and now I have two looking for more.

45 snakes? That's easy to do without breeding. Most people at that point would breed out of interest in the snakes life cycle or just to off-set costs. Why only 1 snake in a room? You can have trios of some species in one cage. You can easily fit 6 or 7 cages for smaller snakes in a room without crowding the room. If you can have that many snakes, why not?

Well I would put many more in each room, just don't want to be tied down to doing nothing in my life but taking care of snakes. As I read my last post here I guess I had many great snake plans and adventures ahead but since then we found out my wife is pregnant with our first so... there goes the plans of expansion and most of my free time, but it will be worth it.

Actually it does not take that long to care for them after you get organized on a schedule...right now I am up to 50 and expecting four more in a week or two.
I am not a professional breeder, but I am going to give it a shot next spring...I should have about 8 females ready to go.
It is a very addicting and exciting hobby...I love all my animals.

I would love to be tied up with taking care of snakes all day. I might want breaks to go out and search for wild ones just to watch them. But hey, good luck with the kid. Should be an exciting adventure. I wish you the best with that.
