I remember admiring these when I was a kid. They were pretty uncommon then, who knows now?
Are they ever offered in the trade?? I asked a guy at a show a couple of weeks ago who seemed to specialize in unusual boas(had a couple of other "island" boas, some very much $$$) but he acted as if he had never heard of them! :(

Bahemian or Bimini island boas...I could probably help you on this question...Just want to make sure as they do get confused with one other very frequently... :D

Good question.I've seen the Bimini on the web and they look only a bit like I remember, but I have not yet seen a photo of the Bahamian, but I do remember being told that the ones I saw as a kid were collected in Andros.
However, I saw someone selling a "Andros Boa" at Daytona and it was all grey, not at all like what I remembered. The Boa I remember looked like a really large Fl kingsnake, black backround with white or light grey spots and markings. But it has only been 30 years so I might be wrong.:)

Hmmm sounds kind of like a Cuban..Well if its the Bimini Island boa then they are a part of the insular species...

Ohh ok ..lol..Well those are classified under the endangerd list..You would have to aquire a C.I.T.E.S.permit in order to get one if i am not mistaken..ok let me see if i can remember info on these guys...well they average 4-41/2' as adults..As far as heat and humidity goes same as bci or bcc with a slightly higher humidity level..And if i am not mistaken they are semi aboreal...Do you know who has them availible i am highly higyhly interested..... :D

Sad that they are endangered, but I'm not surprised. IIRC, they were rare when I lived in Nassau in the 70s. I've been out of the hobby so long, I wondered if things had changed with captive breeding.
I've been checking the various ads since I first posted, and have seen Bimini, Berry Is,and that "Andros" boa (at Daytona) for sale. But while related and pretty neat, not the "real deal" :).
I was just curious anyway, I'm too much of a re-lapsed newbie to try to keep anything even a little rare at this stage.........
