I have never had any experiance with Hogg Island boas and was wondering about their temperment and if $600 is to much for an adult pair. Also what size enclosure would be suitable.
Thanx

" True" Hogg Island Boas are extinct in their natural environment, pretty rare in collections. Most of the "hogg islands" in captivity today may possibly be hybrids mixed with columbians. I would verify and get a guarantee from anyone you're thinking of purchiasing Hogg Islands from.

Gus's (RioBravoReptiles) locality boas are just about the best you can find. their animals are very well taken care of, and pretty well documented lineage-wise. i've been looking at his stuff, but i already have a pair of hog's, and i have no money anyway...
and if they're not really mixed with colombian, $600 would be a fair price for an adult pair. (especially if they're nice!) i'd pay it if i had it!

I also have been consdering some hoggies (what snake haven't i considered getting) and have only read good things about there temperment and size. Also i love the true hogg island look. Alot of breeders have tried to breed out the speckling that is associated with true hoggs, but that is what makes them unique.

Definatly make sure that whatever you choose to get that the bloodlines are traceable..As Alex said there are alot of people crossing them with Columbians now..This leads to dirty bloodlines and makes it difficult to find pure hoggs..The ones at rio are nice i would say that if we had bred all of ours this year i would sell ya some but we did not due to other projects..As far as the price 600 for a pair i would say good price if they are true bloodlines..A good idea would to be to ask them for any references from people who have purchased some hoggs from them ..Also ask about the bloodlines and where they came from..But as far as i know Rio is a good choice here are also a couple of well none breeders that deal strictly with Hoggs...
