I went and bought my pastel red tail the other day and i was wondering on how large should the enclosure should be when it reaches maturity also iwent to several different strictly reptile pet stores on advice about the size of red tail boas some said only about 7-10 ft while others said 12-16 ft the size of the snake doesnt really bother me i was just wondering about the size of red tails. :)

the guy that said 7-10 is pretty much right, the guy that said 12-16 needs to turn off the tv and lay off the crack! (just kidding!) a 12-16 foot boa is pretty much shaquille o'neil... so not too many of those exist... 7-8-9 is the general range from my experience. a cage measuring 4 feet long by 2 feet wide and 1 or 2 feet tall will generally house your boa for life. check around the web for care sheets, and you may find plans to build cages too. good luck!

Females tend to get bigger than males somewhere between 7-9 feet. Males tend to stay in the 6-8 range. Are you talking BCI or BCC?

BCI's normaly go 7 to 9ft but yes there is some out there that are 9ft on up to 11ft i have a buddy thats got a female thats over 10ft but granted shes over 7yrs old, my big female is over 9ft and shes 6yrs old. BCC's get much larger 10ft to 14ft but depends on how there fed and how old they are. Theres lots of boas out there that are way much larger and girthier than the norm or what everyone expects them to get. Back in the old days boas were very very large and very girthy something you dont see alot of these days. Just my 2 cents worth. 8)
