I'm looking for a small basic, reliable, unpack it, plug it in and go incubator. Is there a product on the market that you guys and gals feel comfortable recommending?

My sister and I did research on this topic this year. We both purchased the HovaBator NON turbo. The only thing you have to do is plug it in and set the thermostat by turning a handle. This is our first year with it, but other people on various forums seemed to like it. various online reptile suppliers carry it at all different prices.

Thanks Nancy :) ,
I've heard of this one and I seem to remember something about it having a wafer thermostat that might not be totally reliable. You're happy with yours, though?

How much are you wanting to spend?? There is a company that makes incubators that are a bit expensive, but they are supposed to be good...

The digital one is around $500.00, I believe.

Hello Dr. Alan,
The hovabator Thermal air is great, it will accomodate anywhere from 90-120 bearded dragon eggs, 6-8 ball python eggs, 50 or so colubrid eggs...the wafer is reliable but must be changed/maintained annually in order to be at optimum. If you're looking for something more sophisticated or on a larger scale....we use a cabinet style incubator that can be found at www.randallburkey.com , or if you're looking at high tech... we also use a incubator by www.lyonselectric.com for our higher end eggs.

This kind of experienced advice is what forums are (or should be) all about. Thanks all. Basically, I'm looking ahead at this time to possibly incubating Rhacodactylus eggs.
i am in the same boat, i am currently looking for the best incubator for Ball Python eggs. Alex what do you think?
thanks

If it's Crested eggs, have you ever thought about just hatching them in the enclosure? I mean you would put the eggs in a container, but put this back in the adult's enclosure. If your temps are good for the adults, the eggs will also hatch at room temp. It will just take longer. We have a china cabinet that our snakes cages are on. The heat mats from the snakes heat the inside of the cabinet to a steady 73F. So this works perfect for us. We have our own homemade incubator. But I have talked with others on this and some just hatch them on a shelf in the living room.
Something to ponder.

You can also check out avey incubators. I believe they are using a helix thermostat for their heating, but I could be wrong.

I know you posted quite a while ago, and probably have already made a choice, but these have been proven to work great by many chondro breeders, and if you know anything about chondros, you know that the eggs are quite delicate compared to alot of reptile eggs. You can use the egg boxes without the grates in the bottom and add vermiculite instead using water.
I currently own a rept-100 and have had it up and running and it works great. The smaller of the two units can be plugged into the cigarette lighter in your car if you have power outages. Something that is very handy. This option isnt available on the bigger unit. The temps are very consistent. I have yet to put any eggs in it though, but Im hoping that will change in the coming months, as my chondros are currently going at it

Have you had any luck with those chondros yet?
