One of my friends from this area is in the hospital due to one of his Monacle Cobra Hatchlings biting him. He is in stable condition and did not need the anti venom..he was lucky. He has been keeping and breeding reptiles for 30+ years. He also has an educational exhibit that he travels around with.
The only thing that I really feel bad about is the local TV station was out to his house trying to make the neighbors say how SCARED they are now.
Not like as if they never saw the 30' trailer with Cobras, Pythons, and rattle snakes painted all over it
The news reporter said a "Mongul Cobra" bit him.
People should not try to make something out of what they have no knowledge of.

I am glad your friend is stable.

I hate the way that the media portrays ALL reptiles (and reptile owners) after something like this happens.

I personally would not keep hot herps. They are gorgeous, but I don't think it is worth the risk.

Keep us posted, please!

Thanks for the concern Terri. He is fine and home. He was only in the hospital overnight for observation. I guess he was sexing his baby albino monacles as he has done for 20yrs, and one tagged the flap of his skin by his finger.
