I have 2 adult LTC Timor monitors, but I haven't been able to find out how to sex them. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
~Aaron

I've had 2 savanas & everything I've read says the best thing to do is have a vet do it. next time you take them in for a check up ask and you should recieve. :P

The usual methods and probing or popping are as Babamba says better left to those who really know what they are doing as the risk of harm to the monitors is real. One less accurate method is observation: males have two hemipenes, and they sometimes expose them when going to the toilet. If you look at books on reptiles, many of them have pictures and it's about the same among squamates.

This way is not as accurate as a vets but it's been correct every tiem I've sexed a lizard and it was professionally checked later. Check at teh monitors tail. Right behind the back legs there will be a slight bulge ina male that narrows slightly to the tail.. It's not a massive difference but should be noticable. There is also a slight line that appears on the lizard's belly near the vent. Again this is not 100% accurate as a vet so if you want to breed them take it to a vet, but I haven't been mistaken this way yet with mine or friends.
