Well i am sick of paying for them because my supplier uped the price...
So i wondering what breeds can be kept outside and produce fairly large babies?
I know i am going to only get them when the season hits, but i have enough room to get about a dozen or so hutches going.
I know google is your freind, but i cant seem to find anything on any breeds that can tolerate wicked cold winters. So any help would be much appreciated.

Jeremy... folks on BYC are always discussing rabbits for meat and so on.. you might check out some of the threads, and the site, in general..

Backyard Chickens ..and specifically, Other Pets & Livestock (http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewforum.php?id=22)

I am pretty sure you can search without being a member, but let me know if not ..I'll help however ....or just join! You want chickens, anyway... :D

fine. We raised them when we were kids. The flemish giants are huge. the whites are big as well just not that big. We lived in lower michigan and they survived the winters there just fine. Either should do well for you in NH.

why are you worried about their temperment any ways? You cant possibly be worried about getting bit by one...lol

Are they food for your animals or pets for your kids?

Well if the kids want to go out there i dont want them to get bit.
Me ersonally it would be just another bite to add to the hand.
The kids have Hedgies for there pets and 2 african greys that dont shut up!

If you get them when they are young they will be fine or save them a few babies. I dont remember ever getting bit really.

My daughter used to raise checkered giants for meat. She kept them outside unless the temps got really low then they went into the garage for a bit. You can always build a lean to for them.

I never had a problem with breeding "season" for rabbits. The ovulate after they mate as far as I know. I have seen them become gravid at different times of the year.

The three bunnies my sons used to have managed to have 60 some babies in two months one summer. If I'd have had big snakes then I'd have been pleased.

You can always eat the parents if they bite you.
