I was looking at my female crested gecko today and she looked a little thinner than usual. I started digging around in the dirt by the roots of the plants and found two perfect eggs. I covered them back up and left them there for now. I have to go to town and get some vermiculite (sp) tomorrow. I am so excited to finally have my first eggs out of her. Now for the magic trick of getting them to hatch.

Wish me luck and share any advice you may have please.....

Only advice I have is that it takes at least 50 crestie eggs to make a decent omlet..

They are pretty easy to hatch out, heck I hatched out a few cresties before. And I know nothing about things with feet

It will take a long time to get that omlett with only one female crestie...
Good thing I'm not hungry.

Congratulations!!!

When you get the vermiculite, put some in a deli cup or some kind of container with ventilation holes too small for hatchlings to get out of ..about an inch or so deep.. moisten it just enough for it to feel moist, but not wet (if that makes sense) :loco: Make sure to put the lid on whatever you decide to use ..secure it ...and put them in a dark and quiet place (I always have eggos incubating on my closet shelf) ..and wait for 60+ days.

I've had them hatch ON the 60 day mark ..and others hatch in between 70 - 80 days ..and I've read about some having incubation times well over 100 days. It depends on the temps, I think.

About every 3 or so days, open the container and check the moisture ..as well as, let in some fresh air to circulate.

Don't touch the eggos, unnecessarily. You can candle ...looking for the "donut" ...but nothing else.

If I can help in any way at all, just holler :D

Yey!! I'm excited for you!!!! :bounce:

I forgot to say, don't rotate the eggs from the position they were layed ..ever. You can cause the baby to drown inside the egg.

Good Luck! :D

My first cresties hatched in the tank. I was so busy with all the MHD babies I didn't notice Sally had even been gravid. I was cleaning the tank and found 2 babies. Fast little suckers.
