Got some ASFs and Whisper is ready to POP!

Yeah so the pet store I went to today to look at the corns had some ASFs tucked away in a corner and since I need to get a small rodent colony going I figured I'd see what they had. I got 1.2 ASFs for $2 each. And, except for one they are actually not bad tempered! I mean, they're still hyper like a gerbil on crack but so far don't seem as bad as most people say. They're all good sized to so hopefully we start seeing some little pinks soon. I've got them in a 10 gallon tank so I don't imagine we'll see any chew outs unless they decide to attack the silicone.

In other rat news Whisper my fawn girl is biiiiiiig. She's up to 445 grams yesterday and she looks like she's ready to burst. Hopefully we get some cute little bebbies. I'll probably keep one female, one of the girls at work wants 1.2 and my little brother who's in a wheelchair wants one or two. So here's hoping she has one of those massive litters so I get feeders for a little while. I've got the other 2 girls in with the guys right now so we can get a cycle going hopefully. We'll see though!

Lol omg with the pic police already :barney: I'll get some pics but I can't guarantee quality since unless someone miraculously turns over 2 AA batteries (a rare commodity in this house) the digital is down til my girl gets her a$$ in gear and buys some :banplease:. I'll go see what I can scavage up though maybe I can find some that have enough juice in them to take a couple pics and upload them :bounce:Otherwise it's cell phone pics :mmph:

Ok you guys lucked out. I found some good batteries in one of my boxes from the Army :PDT_Armataz_01_37: lol so I took some pics and they are transferring into photobucket as we speak! Can't believe I forgot the pics :doh: it will happen again Jenea I know it and you're more than welcome to call the pic police on me again :eusa_dance:. In other news while I was typing this Tank is getting randy with Cheerio and I can hear Stuart goin at it with Meg so we should have a couple more litters in a few weeks!

The first ASF bite I got was from an angery daddy to be. They now have babies and I keep my fingers well out of their way. They bite harder than the big rats I have around here. I'm hoping my rat shortage is about over now that the weather dropped or I'll be out looking for feeders as well.

Yeah, when I was at the pet store earlier I didn't even know what was in the tank (there was no label and they were all hiding) but the woman was getting ready to clean it out and she starts putting on these big, thick leather gloves so I go "are those African Soft Furred rats by any chance" she says "yeah, how did you know?" and all I said was "that's the only thing that could be in that small of a hide that you would need gloves that thick for" lol. So I bought them and saved her having to clean the tank :peace: See I'm a giver!:drum:

I do :). The rats have all been breeding really well. I fed off the ASFs though cuz they were pissing me off. I had them for 4 months and not a single dang baby lol. The regular rats are just so much easier to keep and breed.
