Hello:)
I know turnip greens are okay, but can the beardies eat the turnip if it is finely shredded?
Thank you:)

Yes
Thank you.
Would Endive be okay or is that considered a cabbage?

When I had mine that ate just about everything...I don't know much about endive though....everything in moderation...seems to work well with them, mine loved squash all the time though...

I've had endive given to me in a list of edible veggies for beardies and other omnivores. It seems to be palatable~ my sliders and millipedes like it quite a bit and I give it to the roaches, crickets and supers. The BTS won't eat any veggies straight so he's not a good example...

Endive is an acceptable veggie for "veg heads" ...either the "bullets" or the curly "head" looking ones ..red or green/yellow'ish looking. My Beardie, Uro, Tort, Bluey, various "bugs" and even fish ...all like it! Oh.. and Giorgi and J.R. do too... the Cavies :D
Hugo ..the Beardie... is more fond of the red version ..bullets... that is.

Endive is a very good thing to have!!
Very even in oxalites and very high in calcium!!I include that in the daily portions to mine,(along with everything else)..Got around 12 dragons here and they all do VERY well!..lmfao!:icon_winkle:
Thank you everyone!
I heard someone say they thought it was related to cabbage , and since cabbage is on the NO list for our beardies and tort I wanted to check.
I appreciate the detailed answers too:)
I went to the store and saw a different variety of Endive (the curly kind) so I am glad it was mentioned (I had only seen the bullet kind before).
By the way, does anyone eat it in their salads etc?
I tried Kale and thought it tasted awful...no wonder our beardie won't go near it!

Kale is okay (not real crazy about it) cooked in butter or bacon fat....but raw it tastes just as bad a mustard greens to me cooked or raw....

My gang doesn't like Kale too much either, so I cut it in really thin strips and mix it in well with other greens and stuff. Try Swiss Chard on occasion ..not too often. Bok choi is good, too ..if they will eat it... I have some picky ones that won't touch it. Dandelions are a BIG hit around here ..even in my own salad (kind of pepper'y).
As for our own consumption, various greens cooked down with some kind of fat or "grease" ..salt 'n pepper, garlic, onions, chopped jalapeno.... good stuff!
I don't know if you've tried it, but Hugo LOVES sweet peppers!! He will lunge at me when I have red, orange and yellow sweet peppers!
Hibiscus flowers/blooms are another favorite amongst my gang ..so I grow a variety of colors and give them leaves and blooms about twice a week. :D
I have flower heads!!
