Ok, so pure chance... i messaged a friend of mine who had bred some rabbits a while back to see if she still had them and if she still bred cause i was looking into getting a trio...

well she messaged me back, she has been trying to get rid of them for a while, 3 fixed males and 3 un fixed females... and a cage...

from the way the message was put i believe they would be free..

i plan on putting the boys on craigslist for a small addoption fee -- and this weekend i plan on getting a male from a rabbit breeder thats sposed to be at the show.... =]

if this all happens... lol

does any one breed rabbits? i talked to Brian at BHB about them and he said that my boas will do great on rabbits, my main question is will my rainbow and jungles do good on them?

idk how many babies average from a litter from these that my friend has... but i figured it wouldnt hurt to ask... i just think its cool that the cages come with ahha

yeah, lol

Nothing wrong with making money just seems strange to try to sell them if your friend was having such a hard time giving them away....

HognosedCornSnake

they wernt advertizing...

lol

im just going to put an ad up and see what happens, if nothing does right away... well... i have room in the freezer... :/

and i think they have been trying to get rid of all 6 together... thats alot for a normal person to take on lol.

Oh, BTW, bunnys scream like a small child, so be prepared.

so i have heard....

thus why im looking into a humane way to kill them before i feed the snakes...

i dont think i could watch my snake eat a well kill a live bunny... lol

and good idea on the trading thing...

dad keeps telling me how much work they are...
and i told him, that because i will be breeding, i will be out there more, and that i have researched it, and i know what im getting into lol.

i have to be seriously organized...

Oh one of the first times I was rabbit hunting I shot one and it cried I almost felt bad when I twisted it's head off:scared:

Why did you warn her, I just was waiting for that post....lol

That would have been a video I wanted to see Sara thumping said rabbit, rabbit screaming..Sara screaming would have been priceless!!

I really can't think of a quick quiet way other than a .22 behind the ear. Use a solid tip bullet so it doesn't fragement into pieces like a hollow point. :thumb:

Ken is right they make a short little 22 round that trappers use....not loud because most of the time they are in city limits where firing a gun isn't allowed...

If it is solid you maybe able to fish it out with a pair of tweezers so you wouldn't have to worry about the snake....unless you can find copper ones but even if you can find them it would cost alot....

yeah, i was just there today turning in my app...

they take good care of their bunnies there too... lol

not to mention billy has a ton of rabbits already, im over his shop. as long as one snake wont eat the other, it gets to share a tank... hes gotta 5ish foor burm in there right now sharing that big tank with a 5 foot redtail... its annoying... lol

HognosedCornSnake

my dog wouldnt go back inside because she was smelling the spotted young female... so i grabbed one of the males and let my dog smell him, she went strait back to the little female...

so i grabbed the female, let her smell it, put her back, and tried to get the dog back inside...
nope...
wouldnt go back in.. instead she walked back by the rabbit and sniffed again, so i grabbed the bunny again, and brought her inside... keara followed...

its her bunny, shes fine with it... i wouldnt put it down with her but now she is in her kennel whining...

my dog is retarded... lol

any wayy back on topic.
here are the cages they are in, we are going to build a roof thing over it with some tin my dads got in the back and the two smaller cages are going to get some legs -- and be on either side of the big hutch... witch will be split in half eventually...

.

I fire 22 shorts into a bag of dry cement mix in my basement but this is Detroit. I don't think anyone would call the police if you murdered your neighbor in the yard with a 45.

Aren't those great. One of my co-workers has a flasher on her route. I gave her one of these to try and fix that problem.

Tell your co worker to just point and start laughing hystarically the next time she gets flashed. They normally stop after that! LOL!

That's how I "harvest" mice and rats here. You can get CO2 two ways...as dry ice or as a gas in tanks. I use a 10 lb tank with a low pressure regulator that I bought at a welding supply store. When the tank runs out, I just exchange it. It cost me around $145 for the regulator, some vinyl tubing, and the tank full of gas. I had to buy the first actual tank, but thereafter, I only buy the gas inside the tank and exchange the empty for a full one. 10 lbs of CO2 gas is about $23 around here, but it lasts me a long time.

Gassing rodents is probably the most humane way to kill them. They just gasp a few times and then go unconscious. If they don't get fresh air within 5 minutes or so...they die. I've had a few "wake up" on me because I didn't leave them in the CO2 long enough (more than 5 minutes). I can't imagine what kind of pounding rat headache they had going on when they woke up...lol.

I told her to look at him with a straight face and say "Looks like a penis-only smaller". She actually went to the police and they arrested him. He lives in the apartment he was standing in front of. Also had a warrent out for him.
so when the city of Centerline was done with him he had to go to Fraser. STUPID PEOPLE.

and yeah, CO2 is prolly the way im going, im gunna price out dry ice for the time being =]

When you co2 something aren't you suppised to let it air out first for like 24 hours? I thought i remebered seeing that somewhere. maybe it was only if you used dry ice? I don't remember

Huh?? Not that I know of. CO2 is heavier than air. It will settle at the bottom of any closed container. Now, if you go CO2 crazy and let it run (or melt) in your house, then yeah, you might want to air out your house for a few hours...lol. Maybe you're thinking of CO (carbon monoxide)...CO is much more dangerous than CO2 because it will bind with the hemoglobin in your blood and block any oxygen takeup. Whereas CO2 is a natural byproduct of respiration and is completely safe in low doses. Because CO2 is heavier than air, it displaces the air in your killing container and the rats can't get any oxygen and pass out (and then die).

Dry ice works fine if you can get it. The problem with dry ice is storing it. You basically have use what you get, because it's gone the next day.

Another source of CO2 gas I've found is those 1-2 lb cylinders used for paintball guns...although I don't know how you would get the gas out in regulated quantities...never looked at them that close...maybe they have a small valve.

Chandler Rep
08-02-2008, 01:42 PM
You maybe able to rig up the valves they have for the AC recharge kits to a paint ball CO2 tank...don't know for sure though...

Scott what type of regulator do you have for your tank, I don't know why but I thought that you could just wing it with a valve at the top....

It's a high to low pressure regulator valve. I got it at a welding supply store so it's a professional setup. The 10 lb tank has the valve at the top (with the fitting off to side)...if you open that up, you get the CO2 shooting out as frozen "snow" at a very high rate of speed...lol.

I took some pics of my "killing machine" setup. The regulator has 2 gauges...one for the pressure inside the tank, and the other for the pressure coming out of the low side. The nut on top of the regulator adjusts the outgoing low pressure. I added the vinyl tubing (10ft) so I can insert the end in a container of rodents.
