I went to the pet shop yesterday and she had got a pair of young adult ASFs in. Well, I talked her out of them right then and there. Mainly because I fed off all my mice and My pastel girl won't eat rat pups. I'm getting tired of having to go buy mice every week to feed her because she is refusing to switch over.
Any way, When they breed do I have to seperate them or can I leave them together like I do the gerbils? I hope to keep all the females and find another male. I would really like to get rid of most of the big rats. They smell to much for my small appartment....

Oh and do they eat rat food or seed like gerbils? nShe couldn't tell me anything about them as far as care goes.

You can leave them together and yes they will eat anything..Including water bottles and sides of the cage!!

Hell yeah they will.... stupid $$#&*$#@ things.... I don't keep mine in plastic anymore. I feed mine on rodent diet 5008, it's made by Purina I think. I also feed them black sunflower seed. I'm sure they'd eat any type of seed and bread you put in with them!

You can breed them as pairs... popular method is as a trio or 1.3 or you can even colony breed them. The lack odor from these is pretty nice too!

Yeah, the smell of mice in particular is horrible and possibly even harmful if it gets too bad.
