The oil from the cedar....it is bad for them but the main reason I think is the pinks that are raised on it then fed to small snakes it can be to much of a bad thing....I think....I maybe wrong....

That being said I know people that still use it....don't know if they have noticed or even care of any ill effects.....

Hmmmm.....well it really cuts down on the smell......I guess I will keep a close eye. Maybe just move mommas to aspen......

cedar puts out harmful hydrocarbons(sp) that can over time cause serious health issues with almost any animals .

(edit) that's why things stored in cedar chests are safe from vermin .

How about a bag of cedar chips kept next to the tank? The kind one would hang in a closet. That should be safe for the mice.

Why we are on the subject of bedding what is the deal with the new bedding I saw with chlorophyll...

http://www.petco.com/product/3104/LM-Animal-Farms-Bedding-Ponderosa-Pine-Shavings-with-Chlorophyll.aspx

I saw it at the store and wondered what in the world the effects and side effects would be.....to me in my mind it is just color once it is off the plant and the chemical reaction is done....may as well just dye the stuff with food coloring....just wondered if anyone who works in the pet industry has been given any selling points on it....

clorophyll is supposed to have good odor absorption and is pretty much harmless .
