Hoggies are my favorites......just luv'em. Trying to get my Tricolors to breed right now....well they have been having a lot of fun, but no production as of yet.:icon_frown: First time with these guys, so I guess patience is the key right now......**sigh**

Little update, the female from Cool Scott laid 18 slugs last week. I really don't think that the male was big enough to do the job. So today I picked up another male which is four years old, so I'm sure he is plenty big enough for the other girl.

cant believe i missed this whole post . nice critters you got there . sorry to hear about the slugs . good luck with the new male . is there really that much demand for hogs? if so i might have to go down to the outer banks and do a little hunting around .

I'd say there is a demand for hogs. Everyone seems like to like their nose and "cute" little faces...

i can usually find a good number of easterns down on the outer banks of NC . its only a couple hour drive from here . they are fun critters .

A wild eastern was my first intro into reptiles. Since then I have been hooked. Easterns are my favorites, followed by Tricolors (but I think that is because those are the only two I have had.:wink: ) Easterns are probably the most difficult to get switched to f/t mice, they really like toads/frogs.

yeah i know , i had to keep a wading pool in the back yard so i could keep toads on hand when i had hogs as a teenager . i always had to release them ( the snakes) in late summer early fall so they had time to take cover before the winter .

I was collecting frogs and freezing them for the winter months (Yeah, gross I know) It worked to, until that stupid virus!:icon_frown: If/when I get somemore, I will switch them over to f/t mice as quickly as possible. I was sucessful with one, so I know it can be done, it is just difficult.
