could someone point me to an explaination of points, bank, and rep points. Plus how do you get a reputation? (silly question. you would think i would know that at my age.) I hope it's a good thing.

Reputation is built by posting. Number of posts does count but more importantly are what people think of your posts. Everyone can give you rep points if the deem it necessary from each and every post. By clicking on the Icon of the scale located in every post you can leave reputation for others.
The points bank is pretty new yet and there should be a post out there on how it works. For now I can tell you that you earn for every post you make and virtual bets you make in the V bookie section. No real money involved.
