While the original design is not entirely mine (a had a similar notion before), the modifications to it are. It is constructed of 1"x3" pine, 1"x2" pine, and 1/4" blk. sintra. It holds 5-28 or 32qt sterilite containers. Best thing about it, only cost me less than $100 including flexwatt minus the tubs. Enjoy.

Looks great. Is it back heat or belly?

It will be belly heat. I'm calling Matt tomorrow to order 15' of the 3". Should work out pretty well.

Looks great. How is the Sintra holding up to the heat? I know 1/8th inch will get pretty gooey at 125°F.

I can't imagine needing any wider than 3" heat tape for bins of that size... I've been using 3" heat tape on sweater and blanket boxes for years.

Harold, looks like an inexpensive and functional rack. I've built similar out of leftover scraps from cage building.

When securing the 3 inch do you tape both sides? I made one rack with 3 inch and taped it down so I only actually have 1 inch of heat tape exposed I just have deli cups so it works fine for now but for shoe boxes will it actually heat the 3 inch or just the 1 inch exposed?

The 1/4" is holding up great. I about to retire them though. Outta snakes, so I don't need them anymore.

looks good

Thanks

There's no good way to respond to this...

I've been using these racks for quite a well and the 3" is perfect to give me a heat gradient. I do use wider heat tape on my feeder racks, but I've got a different goal in mind.

Mark, how have you been? Thanks for the kudos...but it's time I get rid of them. No snakes=no racks for snakes.

I do tape both sides. Sometimes I tape almost completely over the flexwatt using the aluminum heat tape. Sometimes I tape over it just enough to keep it down. The aluminum heat tape transfers heat well so, whether you have 1" or 3" exposed, it's still cranking out heat.

I just realized how old this thread is. Awesome :icon_pai:.

Harold - I'm good. Thanks for asking!
