Well, while cruising the new format, I took note of the fact that Alex has surprised me with a new category. At a loss to post something pithy and cogent, I've decided to start this off with something that Abraham Lincoln said....
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
Words to live by. So there! I can admire and quote a republican (rarely).

At first glance, it looked like a "Cooking" with Dr.Alan section....but I'm sure the good Dr. could post some of those interesting quotes he knows. I know I enjoy reading them in his signature lines.

How true that is. He has to be IMO probably one of the smarter presidents we've ever had. Not that that's a hard thing. :)

Smarter than Bush Jr.?

Smarter than Bush Jr.?If Bush Jr was smart, he'd follow Lincoln's advice instead of saying.....
"For a century and a half now, America and Japan have formed one of the great and enduring alliances of modern times." Tokyo, Japan, Feb. 18, 2002
For goodness' sake, his dad - a legitimate warrior - was shot out of the sky over the Pacific by the Japanese in WW2.

Well, you have to remember Bush is nothing more then a puppet for the party.

I won't say anything that could get me investigated by the Secret Service.
Funny how they could be shortened to the SS...no more appropriate presidential term for them to be called that in my recollection.

Hey, Teddy Roosevelt was a Republican too, and he's my favorite president. I have a feeling if he were around today, he'd be using that big stick of his to do some Republican remodeling.....

I think Teddy was a good one. One of his concerns was of the possibility of the abuse of executive power.... hmmm!

Beat up on me if you have to but I voted for Junior. Thought he was the lesser of 2 evils. I have to admit I'm very very disappointed with him. Also disappointed with the residents of Detroit. How could they re-elect the "Hip Hop Mayor"? His first term seemed to be one scandal after another. Maybe he thinks he's another Coleman.

Beat up on me if you have to OK. Consider yourself beaten. News yesterday was that Dubya was angry that "his" 6.8 billion dollar deal to sell shipping rights in this country to some of our wealthy Arab friends was under attack - by his own party as well as democrats. This morning it comes out that the deal was approved without his knowledge. Who's running the store anyway?:icon_rolleyes: What a leader. Also disappointed with the residents of Detroit. How could they re-elect the "Hip Hop Mayor"? Politics in Motown is "different", isn't it Bonnie?

LOL...without his knowledge but with his full backing by claiming he will use his first veto on ANY and ALL challenges to the deal...
I just wonder how gullible they really think Americans are?
Approval polls show they aren't as gullible as they were when they RE elected this idiot.
Of course...the point was made on the lesser of two evils...which is the biggest downfall in a "democracy" that is really only a two party system...
Third parties only help sway the popular vote AWAY from the other two...possibly changing which ONE of the other two gets voted in...but never really having enough support to make a valid run at the oval office...at least in the modern times OF two parties...
They have effectually shut out all other contenders...
There should be a middle of the road party... because I don't agree with left OR right...
I like guns...and feel that the freedom of choice should be protected. I believe in freedom of religion...but seperation of church and state...I think you should be able to burn the flag if you want...after all it is a symbol of our country and our Constitution says you SHOULD stand up and protest if you don't like something. All the people who have fought to keep this country free should stand behind it...after all it is freedom...not a piece of cloth...they fought and died for.
I personally am a firm believer in our Constitution...and am frightened at the way this administration has completely DISREGARDED or even walked all over it...at every major turn and decision point. I actually wouldn't have thought that the conservatives would destroy the cornerstone of our country quite to this extent...of course I don't trust ANY politician or their motives...but the liberals tend to be a little more free (just by definition) with the way they walk on our rights.

"People don't need to worry about security. This deal wouldn't go forward if we were concerned about the security for the United States of America."

Didn't he also make a statement to the president (or whatever) of Brazil while looking at a map "wow Brazil is a big country"?

It's the new NAFTA.. Its called SNAFU. All the port security are going to those who want to do the most harm to us. That way when something bad happens they can then fine the port security in Oil for failing to prevent NYC and LA from getting Nuked.
