THE GECKOPHILE GATHERING I-June 2006 in Austin, TX

“The Retreat Where Gecko Dorks Meet”

I've finally decided to put together a meeting for gecko enthusiasts at all experience levels. I'm really excited about this venture and hope to have some of the top gecko breeders/keepers to give talks at the meeting. I'm planning on having it in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, just outside of Austin. There will be available hotel rooms for guests and a weekend full of anything and everything gecko-related. There will be informative talks, some time to herp in the field, panel discussions, good food and beer, and plenty of gifts and prizes to give away. We will have a photo contest, best specimen awards, and more. This will be a weekend you won't forget. I desperately need 5-10 volunteers to help me get the ball rolling on what will be the gecko event of the year. I will come up with a package price once I figure out all of the logistics. This can be your little gecko getaway, and you will be able to meet tons of the forum members. It is going to be really laid back. Hey, look who's putting it on. Currently, I need events coordinators, speakers, field guides (Scott W), and marketing folks to help get the word out (Ray, get started on a killer banner!). We will be budgeted to put an ad in Kingsnake and on fauna to alert those like-minded folks who might be interested. I'm so excited about this, and I've already started talking to many of my breeder friends to have them do some talks. The price will be reasonable and will include hotel (or B&B), food, and access to all of the cool events. Volunteers, please email me if you are seriously interested. You don’t have to be in my immediate area to help out. You can do some scouting from your neck of the woods. This is going to be HUGE! If we all put our heads together and do some organizing, this can be the gecko event of the season!!! I will keep all of you guys updated on the speakers and events, and, yes, I will have the price package done soon.
